Holden Blimp

Last week my hubby went up in the Holden Airship (blimp) and was bowled over with the experience. He said it was like sailing, and in fact you ride the breeze, including turbulence.

One of the radio jocks here, mentioned it on air last week too, said his wife said "Look at the blimp! It's awesome" and he said "No! It's a big ad," and he refused to look at it. FFS!

Now hubby organised through a lot of string pulling to get this radio jock up in the air, but this bloke has again refused, saying "it's just an ad" oh come on now, get over yourself and the high moral ground, and take the opportunity when it's offered. Makes a great story over dinner if nothing else?

I can't understand people who are so pure and moral that they cant bear to sully themselves with a grand opportunity when you are given one on a plate.

Obviously we know that he cant mention the blimp on air, that’s wasn’t the bloody point, we don’t need to push Holden’s advertising along, not our problem, we were just being friendly and open.

Hey radio jock, don’t get a nosebleed perched up on the higher moral ground.

Sheeesh!

You just can’t help some people.

Saving water? Do both the federal and state governments think putting water restrictions on the general public will solve our water crisis?
Industry and farmers use most of the water and yes we need both, they just need to manage it far better. The evaporation from Open channel irrigation uses almost as much water as gets pumped onto the crops. Are we so well off that we can grow crops like rice, wheat, and almonds for export? We should grow what we consume first then look at the resources we have. Its not crops we sell its water, sounds left field? Think about it. The government needs to take the hard line, build dams if necessary, and make industry more responsible. Don’t put the blame on the householders totally. Why won’t they do this? Because it’s not a vote catcher.

Men are just simply happier people, and here is why...

Your last name stays put.

The garage is all yours.

Wedding plans take care of themselves.

Chocolate is just another snack.

You can be President. You can never be pregnant.

You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park.

Car Mechanics tell you the truth.

The world is your urinal.

You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.

You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.

Same work, more pay.

Wrinkles add character.

Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100.

People never stare at your chest when you are talking to them.

The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected.

New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.

One mood all the time.

Phone conservations are over in 30 seconds flat.

You know stuff about tanks.

A 5 day vacation requires only one suitcase.

You can open all of your own jars.

You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.

If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.

Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.

You never have strap problems in public.

You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.

Everything on your face stays its original color.

The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe even decades.

You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life.

Your belly usually hides your big hips.

One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons.

You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look.

You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife.

You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier!

To busy

Do Something

A man distraught by all the pain and suffering he saw all around him broke down and banged his fists into the dirt. His head turns upward and he yells at his God. "Look at this mess. Look at all this pain and suffering. Look at all this killing and hate. God. Oh God! WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING!!" And his God spoke to him and said "I did. I sent you."

We want more lol

3 bananas in the Morning and 4 in the Afternoon.

Zhuangzi told this story to his disciples to make a point: Once a zookeeper said to his monkeys: "You'll get 3 bananas in the Morning and 4 in the afternoon." All monkeys are upset. "OK. How about 4 bananas in Morning and 3 in the afternoon?" Hearing this, the monkeys are content. One should realize that sometimes a change in phrasing does not represent a real change.

What took them so long ?

Paramount 'cuts ties with Cruise'

By entertainment editor Andrew Banks

August 23, 2006 02:26pm
Article from: Reuters

POOR Tom Cruise. First he's forced to take a pay cut, now the bosses at Paramount have decided to give him the flick.

Viacom Inc's Paramount Pictures unit today said it was ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behaviour.

The company's chairman, Sumner Redstone, said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the behaviour of the star of the Mission: Impossible series and Top Gun was unacceptable to the company.

Cruise's contract with Paramount allowed the actor to receive $US10 million to support his production company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, in exchange for their choice of any of his films. The contract was set to expire next month.

Paramount reportedly funded Cruise's latest movie Mission: Impossible III, which was expected to make up to $US400 million in international box office takings, but due to Cruise's expected profit margin, the studios would simply break even, World Entertainment News Network reported.

Paula Wagner, the actor's longtime partner in his movie company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, struck back at Redstone, calling his comments about the three-time Oscar nominee "offensive" and "undignified."

"Whatever remarks Mr. Redstone would make about Tom Cruise personally or as an actor have no bearing on what this business issue is," she told Reuters. "There must be another agenda that the studio has in mind to take one of their greatest assets and malign him this way."

Five films starring Cruise and co-produced by his company, including the Mission: Impossible series, have generated theatrical revenues totaling over $US2 billion worldwide during the past decade. And Wagner said his films accounted for about 15 per cent of the studio's overall box office gross over that period.

some things dont change

After a few days, the Lord called to Adam and said, "It is time for you and Eve to begin the process of populating the earth so I want you to kiss her." Adam answered, "Yes Lord, but what is a 'kiss?"
So the Lord gave a brief description to Adam who took Eve by the hand and took her to a nearby bush.
A few minutes later, Adam emerged and said, "Thank you Lord, that was enjoyable."
And the Lord replied, "Yes Adam, I thought you might enjoy that and now I'd like you to caress Eve." And Adam said, "What is a 'caress?"
So the Lord again gave Adam a brief description and Adam went behind the bush with Eve.
Quite a few minutes later, Adam returned, smiling, and said, "Lord, that was even better than the kiss." And the Lord said, "You've done well Adam. And now I want you to make love to Eve." And Adam asked, "What is 'make love' Lord?"
So the Lord again gave Adam directions and Adam went again to Eve behind the bush, but this time he reappeared in two seconds.
And Adam said, "Lord, what is a 'headache?'"

A win for whales ''maybe''

Whales 'could be saved by own skin'
RESEARCHERS in Australia are working on a humane way of carrying out scientific research on whales - by catching bits of their sloughed-off skin, according to the scientific journal Nature.Currently scientists determine the age of whales - necessary for assessing how their numbers are recovering from decades of commercial whaling - by counting layers in their ear wax, a procedure that can only be performed on a dead whale.
Now researchers from the Southern Cross University Whale Research Centre in Lismore, NSW, are developing another method.
Trailing behind the mammals in a boat, they use a kitchen sieve tied to the end of a stick to scoop up flakes of skin shed naturally by the whales when they soar out of the water or slap their tails onto its surface.
They believe they may be able to develop a system to work out a whale's age by removing genetic material from the skin samples.
"If they are right, one of the key arguments in favour of killing whales for scientific purposes will be dead in the water," the London-based international journal Nature said.
The researchers said the need for humane methods was now urgent, since Japan has declared it will increase its annual catch of whales for "research purposes", Nature reported.
The International Whaling Commission imposed a moratorium on commercial whaling in 1986 but Japan has continued hunting for what it calls scientific research.

Some wives....

Married 25 years, took a look at my wife one day and said, "Honey, 25 Years ago, We had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and Watched a 10 inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year old blond.

Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 50 year old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year old blond, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed....
